The Birth Of Venus
Lithograph on newsprint, 2018.
Unique print, hand signed by the artist.
Named after an iconic artwork, this lithograph is one of a set of eight prints. Each print features the Royal Bank of Scotland £20 note, in a ‘sheet’ of 8. The lithographs have been made from 4 plates, with each plate printed on top of the next while still wet. This gives the prints a messy look, with smudges and overprints. Though lithography is the principle process used in banknote production, the punk aesthetic of these ‘banknotes’ blur the lines of counterfeiting, authenticity, artistry, and the rejection of the authority of money.
