Bitcoin 2023 will host its largest-ever art gallery with a special focus on ordinals, the project changing tokenized artwork forever…
An auction of pieces featured in the Bitcoin 2023 art gallery will be run by Scarce.City …works featured in the sale:
Banderas.gif as Green Wojak Triptych (Sketch for Banknote Design)
Originally a sketch for a banknote design portrait, this collection of three prints are portraits of the often used gif of Antonio Banderas. The clip is sometimes used in reference to crypto price action. Across the three prints, a bitcoin bull run is presented as candlesticks, peaking in the top right corner. Other elements reference authentic banknote design patterns. The three prints are sold as one work.
Waiting For The CryptoArtist
This print features one of my most popular engraved portraits. The title refers to the realm of CryptoArt. The brilliant invention of cryptocurrency was given a visual voice through cryptoart, giving code an identity.
One Hundred MilliBitcoin (Fed In Flames)
This is a collaboration between Tom and fellow artist, Alex Schaefer. In this work, Alex’s celebrated painting, Federal Reserve In Flames, is re-imagined on a theoretical banknote design. The design has been created in a way that would allow it be printed authentically. In this case, the design is presented as an ‘uncut sheet’ of bills. Each design features familiar touchpoint of Bitcoin – logos, taglines and hidden details.
LOOK AT ME. I AM THE BANK NOW. (No. 01229630)
One of 11 individually serial numbered works, this artwork is a reaction to the collapse of the banking system, and the need to take control, in the form of Bitcoin. The title of work is borrowed from the film ‘Captain Phillips’, when a Somali pirate says “I am the captain now”. Bitcoin is pirate currency, which will eventually take over the financial ship. These ideas are presented in the form of a fictional banknote, designed in the style of French colonial banknotes.
